How to Register for 2012
Fun Run
.Dear players and parents
this exciting fun run is now definitely on. Come and run and
register for the 2012 footy season straight after. I
encourage everyone to take part as part of your preseason
fitness/get back into shape after Christmas and New Year Program.
I would like to see all players running as part of their team
though a team entry that will be organised by the club. See
your coach to organise your team entry. The footy club will
subsidize the cost of all player team entries so that all you
need to pay to run as part of your team is $5.
Coaches will collect your fees for team entries and enter the
team online themselves. For all other run registrations
please follow the instructions on the attached flyer and
go to the run blog site ( www.runwarrandyte.blogspot.com) to
enter.

Committee’s Welcome
First, a big welcome to all players,
parents and supporters to season 2012 including those that are new
to the club. To the players, we hope that you enjoy your football,
build on your skills and continue to get pleasure from the
friendship and camaraderie of your team mates. We also encourage
you to bring down any of your mates who may want to play football
so that they can do the same.
To parents, we also hope that you
enjoy watching the kids play and ask that you support them in a
positive way at all times. We encourage you to get involved as much
as you can with the club whether it be in an official role, helping
your team or just supporting social functions etc. It’s a great way
to meet new people and make new friends.
Full details for player registration for 2012 are provided in the
attachments below. We look forward to seeing you on registration
day if not before.
A special request from the President
I have to say it was most disappointing to have such a very
small number of parents attend our recent annual general meeting
(in fact nobody who is not on the current Committee attended!).
As a result of such a poor attendance, there were no volunteers
come forward to be appointed to the following positions this
year:
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Grounds Manager (can be shared)
- Football Operations x 2 (or preferably 3)
- Club Liaison and Promotion – (includes Warrandyte Diary and
updating website)
All too often in community
groups, responsibilities fall to the same people year in and year
out. The problem we now face at Warrandyte Junior Football
club is that there are a number of committee members with players
in the upper age groups who will be leaving the club at the end of
this year. It seems sensible to put your hand up to join the
committee while these members are still around so you can “pick
their brains”. At the end of the 2012 season, we will also
need to find a new President, Property Manager and Sponsor
Coordinator. If you are interested in seeing the Club go
forward on a positive note, now would be a good time to put up your
hand while these members are still around.
Please give it some thought. The committee meets once a month
(usually the first Monday) for an hour or so. It is not a
huge commitment for a great gain to your children. I would
hate to see the club fold or run down for lack of parent
involvement.
PLEASE GIVE THIS SOME VERY CAREFUL CONSIDERATION – IT’S NOT AN
ENORMOUS TASK!

Lets make 2012 a big year for the Warrandyte Junior Football Club
and use it as a springboard for our next generation of players and
parents to take over the baton of leadership of this unique and
very special club.
