Longest Kick Competition for the Mums
Auskick starts at 9 am.
Kick off is at 10.20 am
Come along and help the
kids. Lets see if your Mum is as good as she
says!!!
The Auskick season got
underway with 110 young aspiring footballers joining the programme.
With another 30 siblings helping out or joining in it makes it an
action packed Saturday morning.
This year it is good to
see a number of girls register some such as Jasmine Swedosh, Chloe
Stark, Megan Wiltshire and Kailynn Menzies who are regularly
pitting their skills against the boys in the grid games that are
held at the end of each session. Although scores are not kept they
all seemed to know who won the games.
A number of the players
are also doubling up in the Tackers competition on a Sunday
morning, with Kiama Harris-Allan and Samuel Munks showing the
benefit of Auskick skills sessions in their junior football club
games.
Last Saturday, local
Warrandyte identity Kylie Frowd ably supported by former gymnast
Alicia Wiltshire held a mini gym clinic at Auskick that proved
really good fun for all the kids on how to roll properly, essential
in future playing years when being tackled or bumped.
A half time grid game
is to be held at the upcoming Warrandyte senior club’s game. All
children are welcome to come along and join in and enjoy the
hospitality of the senior clubs facilities.
A number of the 7 year
olds are already itching to play Tackers next season with the
junior club, with Spencer Hamilton, Oscar Lang, Leo Garrick, Nathan
Stewart, Ben Munks, Connor Martin, Callum Bowers, Ben Jackson, Max
Coutts, Harrison Nitschinsk and Luke McAndrew already talking to
the older guys about their proposed debuts with the bloods then the
AFL !
Richmond will also be
sending a couple of their players to Warrandyte Auskick on 31 May
to help in the sessions and participate in the team
photos.
An Auskick game is also
scheduled to be played by Warrandyte at Telstra Dome in
June
The age range of
Auskick is from 4 to 10 with both boys and girls participating.
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the helping
of coaching.
Leader coaches this
year are Chris Jackson, Brad McAndrew, Andrew Sisson, Martin
Rostron, Michael Stark, Mark Papez and Paul Dal Sasso.
Warrandyte Auskick is
affiliated through the AFL via the Eastern Ranges located at
Kylsyth reserve. People interested in the pathway to the AFL
can visit their website at
