PRESIDENTS UPDATE 10th MARCH 2010

Yesterday David Ure and I attended the YJFL presidents and secretaries first meeting of the season.  2010 is looking like a bumper year with a 10% increase in numbers across the league, and big increases in the younger age groups in particular with 63 Tackers teams scheduled to play off against each other and 5 Divisions of under 10s teams.

As a result we may see a number of early game starts  - 8.30am for many in the tackers and under tens age groups  - so you'll have to set your alarms mums and dads!

It is great to see most of our teams now well and truly into their preseason training regime and we extended our thanks to Anderson Creek Primary School for allowing us access to their great little oval which has been a godsend.

Our practice games with Research Junior Football Club of the Northern Football League have now been rescheduled to Sunday 28 March to accommodate cricket finals at Research and hopefully access to our oval.

Watch this space for more details soon.

I am pleased to welcome all past and new players to the 2010 season at Warrandyte Junior Football Club.  2010 promises to be a bumper year with summer rains improving grounds all over the Yarra Junior Football Club region and a full season of sixteen games fixtured.

Our coaching appointments have now been finalised.  Our committee has agreed to a strong focus on supporting coaches and player development this year and we will be holding our first coaches meetings this month.  Our football operations staff will then work with our coaches both as a group and individually throughout the season. I hope this will be of benefit to all.

We have scheduled practice games with Research Junior Football Club of the Northern Football League for Sunday 21 March ***now resceduled to 28 March ****(access to grounds permitting) so please keep this date clear in your dairies.  The season proper will kick off on Sunday 11 April.

Some coaches have already begun their preseason and others will be up running very soon so keep an eye on your communications and lets get started!

I look forward to meeting you all shortly
