WJFC Under
15s receive instructions from IFS representative Justin
Wenke
WJFC Skill
Development Programs
The off season has been a busy time at WJFC with several age
groups participating in Skill Development Programs during the
months of November and December.
Early in the 2010 season, WJFC approached Impact Football
Solutions to specifically cater a Skill Development Program for our
players. The program was to be purely focused on skill development
and establishing the correct techniques to accelerate the
development of our players. The program for the Under 13/14/15s was
conducted by IFS representative Justin Wenke. Justins experience
includes his current role as TAC Under 16 coach at the Oakleigh
Chargers and he is also the YJFL Under 15/1 coach for the league
representative squad. Justins knowledge and communication skills
complemented what was a comprehensive program that will ensure long
term benefit to the participants.
Programs of this nature are also excellent for coach development
and several WJFC coaches came along to view aspects of the
program. Together with the assistance of Coaching
Co-ordinator Brian Cartwright, programs of this nature will assist
the development of our WWC and AFCA accredited coaches and ensure
they are at the forefront of player development.
The Colts and WFC Under 18s were also invited to a 6 week skill
development program devised by the club. The 6 week program
addressed most aspects of the game including technical assessment
of kicking, smothering, tackling and stoppage play. There was also
a “game sense” component that focussed on transition and opponent
accountability.
These programs have involved the participation of several elite
level coaches including an AFL development coach, several TAC
coaches and YJFL interleague coaches. The knowledge and information
imparted to the players and coaches will be of enormous benefit for
the upcoming seasons. Together with the recent substantial
investments by the club including football assessment software and
AV equipment, the exposure to high level coaches will ensure our
players have every opportunity to further their football
skills. |
