I hope you are all doing well in this crazy time.
I have learnt that schooling from home isn’t for everyone.
There has been an increasing amount of noise regarding the potential to get a shortened season up and running.
Whilst we are hopeful that the YJFL along with the AFL can re ignite junior footy, we need to still to follow the guidelines set by the state and local governments and the relevant sporting bodies.
To give you an update:
- On Monday the YJFL board discussed a return-to-football plan, which is far from finalised and agreed upon, but is a very positive sign that we might get a reduced season. A further meeting will take place with all clubs to discuss options. The date for this has yet to be confirmed.
- We are unable to use our facilities, including both grounds, for any training regardless of numbers. This was outlined to all sporting clubs, junior and senior that reside in the City of Manningham regarding the facilities they oversee.
- The AFL, YJFL & WJFL still do not want any sanctioned training to take place regardless of venue until we have agreed “return to training” protocols in place to ensure the safety of everyone. This does not mean people can’t exercise in groups of 10 or less. Physical distancing rules apply and hygiene measures must remain in place. We just can’t use any Manningham facilities.
We all understand that the majority of our kids are itching to go and have a kick of the footy but we need to wait for further updates before this can happen.
In the mean time please stay safe and we will keep you updated on any changes over the coming days and weeks as further information becomes available.
